Mission Statement

Our purpose is to strengthen, unite and attract businesses to the Little Italy neighborhood in the city of Troy, New York. As businesspeople we believe that the strength of our past and our diversity in people, cultures and businesses will enable us to make our neighborhood a destination point to which people will come to live, work and visit. Rocco DeFazio

Members of the Little Italy Merchant Association can anticipate enjoying a variety of valuable benefits including:

  • Stabilized community of residents and businesses
  • Safe and clean community
  • Walking distance from downtown Troy and the newly developed Congress Street Corridor
  • Save money on advertising by being included in Little Italy group ads and media placements such as newspaper articles and TV mentions
  • The opportunity for new business owners to connect with and learn from each other, as well as from existing local business people
  • Educational group field trips to see up close just how other New York “Little Italy” neighborhoods are boosting business and renewing and promoting their tourism destination communities
  • Gaining “strength in numbers” when it comes to lobbying for better code enforcement and police support in our neighborhood
  • Increasing foot traffic by providing visitors with multiple businesses representing a united focus on customer service and neighborhood pride
  • Cooperation and mutual help in beautifying and monitoring our community for safety, cleanliness, and nuisance abatement
  • Close proximity to the growing Sage, RPI and HVCC campuses which attracts approximately 25,000 students, faculty and staff to the City of Troy.

We should be able to build on these items to make the Little Italy Neighborhood more attractive.
